League Rules

  1. Matches must be played on the date and at time stated on the fixtures list. Any team failing to field a side with a minimum of 5 players within 5 minutes of the start time will forfeit the match. Should a team fail to arrive on time due to special circumstances, consideration will be given to a rearrangement by the committee.
  2. Teams wishing to cancel a match must notify the Fixtures Secretary by 2pm on the day of the match. Any team failing to do so or failing to turn up for a match will be fined the cost of the hall hire for their match. Teams are responsible to notifying the opposition and the umpires.
  3. Teams may rearrange matches provided that notification is given to the opponents, fixture secretary and the umpires at least 4 weeks before the date on which the match was originally scheduled to be played.
  4. 6 points will be awarded for a win
    5 points will be awarded for a draw
    4 points will be awarded to the losing team scoring within 5 goals of the winning team’s score
    3 points will be awarded to the losing team scoring more than half of the winning team’s score
    2 points will be awarded to the losing team scoring less than half the winning team’s score
    If a team does not turn up for a match or turns up with less than 5 players or cancels a match, they will receive no points and the opposing team will receive 6 points
  5. League Championship. Should any teams be equal on points at the end of the season then the Championship and runners-up places will be decided on a play-off on the first Thursday following the last League game of the season. Failure to provide a team on that date will result in a win for the opposition. Players are eligible to play provided that they are registered for the team and have played a minimum of 3 EDNL games with that team in that season.
  6. Each team must supply one umpire for each match as indicated on the fixture list, who must be competent and listed by the League. There will be a 5 point deduction and a £15 fine for not supplying an umpire.
  7. Players must be 13 years of age or over.
  8. Captains of the winning team are responsible for the completion of the results form and for sending it to the results secretary within 6 days of the match being played. Failure to comply will results in a fine of £2.00 being imposed.
  9. Teams must send at least THREE members to represent them at all League meetings. Failure to comply will result in a fine of £20.00, which will be added to the registration fee for the forthcoming season.
  10. Players may not play for more than two teams in any one season. A player may leave one team to play for another but may not return to the original team. Transfers may not take place within the last four weeks of the season.
  11. No player or umpire will be allowed to take part in a match unless dressed appropriately including the wearing of training shoes.
  12. No jewellery, other than a taped over wedding ring, may be worn by any player during a match. Nails must be cut short and gloves may not be worn.
  13. Teams must be represented at the registration meeting or their application may be excluded.
  14. The league registration fee will be decided each season as court fees may vary.
  15. Pregnant players may not take part in competition beyond the 12th week of pregnancy.
  16. All players must be affiliated to England Netball.
  17. All teams have agreed to abide by the Code of Conduct (please see below).
