Below is a report about the 2nd Versatility Tournament that the league has held:

The Georgina Gard Versatility Tournament

On Saturday 5th April 2008 at Exeter University, 11 teams entered the Georgina Gard Versatility Tournament that was recently held by Exeter & District Netball League, the sun shone and the scene was set for a fun day of netball!!

Teams made a £10 donation and a raffle was also held. Altogether the Tournament raised the grand sum of £530.00 which has been donated to Mrs Gard’s chosen charity ‘Hospiscare Exeter’.

All teams played each other in a 10 minute match and had to change positions for every game.  There were some excellent demonstrations of how versatile some of the players were, going from defence to centre court to shooting!

The Versatility Plate was won by Exeter Inn.

Also a big thank you to the following umpires that gave up their day to officiate the games:

4th Woodbury NC (21 pts)
5th West Exeter Leopards (20 pts)
5th VW Sevens (20 pts)
7th WKD Ladies (19 pts)
8th Jets (18 pts)
9th Refreshers (15 pts)
9th Bluebirds (15 pts)
9th Darke Rubies (15 pts)

Mrs Gard managed to attend the tournament to present the trophies in the afternoon, but was unable to attend the start so Mrs Sheila Evans stepped in for her and gave an opening good luck speech and blew the whistle to start the first games.
