What to wear

It is important that you look your best even on the netball court, so here is what to wear! Most players wear a loose polo shirt with short sleeves and a short pleated skirt.

The skirt is designed to give you more freedom of movement so you can jump up and reach the ball more easily. Some professional teams wear an all-in-one bodysuit so they can move around the court even faster.

You also need short sports socks to give you extra bounce and support on court. Look out for special sports socks which are designed to give you extra padding in all the right places.

TRAINERS

Forget fashionable, big-tongued, gold-painted, pump-up trainers and think comfort! You will be relying on your feet to get you around court so you need to take care of them. It's a good idea to get a pair of trainers that you can wear on both indoor and outside courts. They need to have good grip on the sole and around the toe to stop you slipping and sliding. Your trainers should also help support the middle of your foot and provide cushioning for when you are landing with the ball.

It is important that your shoes are a good fit so make sure they are laced up properly for a game and don't wear worn out trainers.

BIBS

What to wear Maybe some netballers are messy eaters, but players don't wear bibs on court for catching food! Each player wears a bib with two big letters on the front and back which represent their position. For example, WD for wing defence or GS for goal shooter. The bib usually has elastic sides so it can be pulled on and off more easily.
